"The Temptations" are an unforgettable singing group and this movie is unforgettable, too.
"The Temptations" is based on a book written by one of the group's members - Otis Williams. It was originally
a television miniseries that aired over two consecutive nights in November, 1998.
"The Temptations" is a story about the group's entire history - from the time they first started singing together
to their meteoric rise as a Motown singing group. It also goes into the behind-the-scenes tragedies and triumphs
that they all encountered on their road to fame.
With lots of Temptations songs and superb acting, "The Temptations" is a wonderful film to see.
Trivia
• “Temptations” is the only autobiography written by any member of The Temptations singing group. Otis Williams
wrote the book and this is the novel that the movie "The Temptations" is based on. Click here to get details about
the book "Temptations."
• "The Temptations" is a dramatization of the lives of the singing group and, as such, some of the information in the movie
is not completely accurate. For example, singer David Ruffin did not die in the middle of a street. He actually died at a
hospital from a drug overdose. Also, Melvin Franklin didn't pass away in his mother's house. Instead, he died in the
hospital after a long bout with diabetes.
